Monroe Doctrine

What do you know about The Monroe Doctorine?

Only an original answer will do NO REPEATS of anything anyone else posts (minus 10 points for repeats)

the advantage goes to the early poster

Dreaded Case of the Poor Constructed Thesis

I have found that my students ability to write thesis statements is horrific. Thus, we have been practicing writing thesis statements and providing evidence in support of those statements. I think the stuff we got in the binders for thesis writing has been very helpful.
Thank you!

Vietnam War Lesson Plan

Somehow, my group didn't get our lessons copied for the class. This is one on the Vietnam War but it can really be adapted for any time period. Good luck & have fun.

Lesson Goals and Objectives:
• The student will analyze Vietnam War documents.
• The student will write an editorial to their local paper expressing their stance on the Vietnam War.
Materials and Resources needed: Variety of Vietnam documents, pen/pencil, paper.
Procedure:
1. Pass out packets of Vietnam documents. (This can be done individually or in groups. The larger variety of documents used the larger the variety of perspectives you will receive.)
2. Students should analyze the documents using SOAPSS or similar process.
3. Students will select two of four documents to assist in writing an editorial to their local paper.
4. Students write an editorial properly citing documents and using correct tense.
5. Students should turn in their SOAPSS or written analysis of each document in addition to their editorial.

Review Idea

With the released test (2001 multiple choice):

Every few days send the kids home with 2-4 questions and answers from the released test. They must tell you what the right answer is, and how they know it is right. They must also tell you what the wrong answers are and how they know they are wrong. This helps them to review several topics at once, and to become more familiar with the test.
